Deadly Towers Speed Run

That title might not make sense, until you visit the SpeedDemos Archives, a website featuring crazy geeks who have perfected their skills on lots of games, new and old alike. I learned a few things, like how in Castlevania you can skip entire stretches of levels by letting yourself get hit by a bat; or how in Metroid you don't actually have to fight Ridley, because you can bomb yourself across the gap to the final area right after you beat Kraid. These aren't the kind of tips you'll get from the Donn and Jim and their U.S. Video Game Team video series.

Although it seems slightly depressing to me to even consider dedicating a significant portion of my life to "speed running," I can't help but think, "wow, those motherfuckers can PLAY!" And play they can. I can't even get past the first level in Deadly Towers in 1 hour, and even seeing that someone can seriously brings back the frustration I felt playing that game. Also, I have been trapped (in Zelda) in the lost mountains and forest (or whatever they're called), for a several hours. But, we're not here to talk about me. Let's talk about the Final Fantasy record? Are you up for the challenge? Ahhh, you probably don't have the guts. Just sit in that chair of yours and contemplate what you could have been. How do you feel now Mr. "I could have been a champion?"

holy shit! you're right; there's no final fantasy record! i had that one in the palm of my hands, once. the secret is to skip the powering up at the dragon cave or whatever. i bet that's the secret. excuse me for 18 hours while i try various things to try to figure that out.

here's a tip for a game that was never made: "When you leave the special event at the Creane house, be sure to check your knapsack!"

No, that tip was actually from a game I used to play called M.U.L.E. I once got a score of 4309.
